Jewellery

During my studies at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, a good friend and fellow student once said to me: “Between the big artistic works you make, you always make small things with repetitive work processes to relax. Meanwhile, you develop new ideas and then another one of your big works follows.”

Afterwards, I realised she was absolutely right.

Everything on this page – the jewellery boxes with the strings decorated with beads, the animal earrings made of coloured porcelain and the small jewellery boxes in the shape of meringue biscuits, were created during my art studies simply out of the joy of implementing a fun idea.

The spontaneous realisation of a funny idea, where everything is about doing and where you don’t have to think much, brings relaxation and creates space for new ideas.

And yet I also love the small, refreshing works created in this way.
