Animal Urns
Love always wins.
It is surprising but true – even ANNUSCH’s animal urns are thrown on the potter’s wheel.
Why does ANNUSCH only offer animal urns for deceased dogs and cats? When asleep dogs and cats often curl up to a round and compact shape which ANNUSCH can imitate on the potter’s wheel – with the lid of the vessel hidden at the bottom.
Through elaborate handwork the still moist and malleable freshly made vessel is reshaped into an animal body, head and tail, and finally transformed into an almost lifelike portrait of a sleeping puppy or a young cat.
Some of ANNUSCH’s animal sculptures have a very plain and humble design, others are worked out in detail with the use of high quality porcelain paint. Porcelain painting is a wonderful but very time-consuming technique. It requires a lot of handwork, and after the biscuit- and glaze firing a third firing process is necessary to make the colours stable, bright and shiny.
In addition to choosing from ANNUSCH’s unique collection of animal urns, you also have the option of having a very personal portrait made of your own deceased dog or cat for a small additional charge.
Whatever option you may choose, perhaps the small sculpture can support you in transforming the pain of loss into a loving and lasting memory over time.
